... FOR YOU ARE A TOAD
The world and I run in the footsteps of those in front of us.
Our heads bent down, watching our feet as not to trip
(A massive mob where no one slips) For those who slip
Are pushed aside, unwanted by the herd.
For a second though, I looked up... I saw a world.
I looked and waded in the river.
I saw a sky, I saw a tree, it waved at me
It begged please notice me.
So tell me what is it all for
While we're sitting ducks here waiting for a war
Don't answer because you don't know,
You've never crossed the River Styx and
You've never seen a meadow on the other side.
I slowed, I stepped aside, Let others pass.
I was alone, but my path was slow easy and quiet.
At the end of the race I asked the herd if they shared what I
have seen.
We don't want to see they said,
We've seen nothing but our own two feet!
What's important is we've got here (wherever here may be).
So they closed their eyes
Ignored the world
So they could go to sleep
I wanted to see more.
